About the Position

Regional Transportation Service Leader | New York, NY

The successful candidate must be knowledgeable in a broad array transportation planning, engineering and science (traffic operations, highway design, active transportation, transit and rail, structures, transportation planning, safety, and technology). The Regional Transportation Service Leader will be responsible for engaging talented professionals, advancing excellent technical delivery, and driving innovation for the transportation service line in the Northeast Region. The position demands a high degree of technical acumen and proven ability to lead and guide engaged, innovative, high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the build-out and delivery of a broad, high-quality array of disciplines within the transportation service line to serve the needs of our clients in the region
  • Advance Healthy & Safe Practices and Culture
  • Attract, develop and engage talented people
  • Foster communication, connection, and collaboration
  • Advance use of technology and foster innovation
  • Promote technical excellence through the development and implementation of technical QA/QC plans for the service line disciplines and foster a culture of quality
  • Provide insight and input in key personnel decisions
  • Develop service area thought leaders within the region

Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledgeable in a broad array transportation planning, engineering and science (traffic operations, highway design, active transportation, transit and rail, structures, transportation planning, safety, and technology)
  • Demonstrated high degree of technical skills and professional mastery in one or more transportation disciplines
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, including the ability to mentor staff and successfully manage and coordinate integrated services projects
  • Superior ability in collaborative problem solving with stakeholders, clients, and teammates
  • Ability to think strategically and solve problems
  • Encourages forward thinking and innovation, recognizes value in innovative ideas, and passionately implements them
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities to provide positive influence on transportation service practitioners, command respect and build trust throughout the organization

 Qualifications

  • BS in civil engineering, transportation planning, or a related field; master’s degree is preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience in transportation engineering and/or planning
  • Experience in managing teams
