About the Position


VHB’s Orlando, FL office is seeking an experienced Traffic Safety and Timing Engineer to join our Transportation Practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope.


  • Work on projects involving traffic studies for the Department and local agencies
  • Work of signal timing optimization and implementation to maximize transportation system throughput (using SYNCHRO, Tru-Traffic and similar programs)
  • Understanding of traffic signal operations including familiarity with various controller types and platforms
  • Provide analyses of traffic safety issues and crash reduction measures


Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently
  • A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience with MicroStation
  • Knowledge of FDOT design specifications and requirements
  • Expertise with Synchro and SimTraffic; experience with VISSIM a plus


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required
  • EIT certification strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 year of professional experience working on traffic signal timing projects
  • Experience working with Synchro and MicroStation required
