
ABOUT THE POSITION
Structural Bridge Engineer | Orlando, FL | Tampa, FL | Hybrid
We are seeking an experienced Structural Bridge Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team in Orlando, FL.
In this position, you would help lead the planning, analysis, design, and detailing of bridge and other transportation related structural projects throughout Florida and other states in which VHB operates.
Responsibilities
- Develops, organizes, and implements structural planning, analysis, preliminary and final design document preparation for bridge-focused projects
- Participates in proposals and/or contracts involving technical approach, costs, and scheduling
- Development of design plans, technical specifications, design calculations, load ratings, cost estimates, reports, final bid packages, etc.
- Ensures that production of plans, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, quality requirements
Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in structural engineering of transportation related structures
- Must possess strong technical and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writing is essential
- Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
- Detail oriented and quality focused
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Motivated to lead and mentor junior staff
Qualifications
- 5-8 years of structural bridge design experience (LRFD preferred, FDOT experience a strong plus)
- 8-11 years preferred
- B.S. in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred) (1-2 years of experience can be substituted for a master's degree)
- EIT required, PE license expected
- Experience completing engineering studies, design reports, compiling contract documents and developing contract plans, in conformity with accepted engineering standards and procedures including AASHTO, FDOT, local municipalities/counties, and other state DOTs
- Strong familiarity with structural engineering software (FB-MultiPier, ATLAS, STAAD Pro, LARSA 4D, AASHTOWare, MDX, SP Column, MerlinDASH, Mathcad, FDOT Structures Design Programs, etc.)
- AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation v8 and Connect experience is a strong plus
