Senior Highway Engineer

ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Highway Engineer | Hybrid

VHB’s growing Providence, RI office is seeking an experienced Senior Highway Engineer to join our Transportation team. Duties include leading the design, development, and execution of complex highway and transportation engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual design and analysis
• Coordinate with project stakeholders
• Provide technical guidance to junior level engineers
• Design of highways and roads including development of geometric layout, grading and drainage, working with utilities, signing, striping and environmental permitting
• Prepare and/or review design criteria, calculations, drawings, quantity estimates and specifications
• Development of 3D modeling
• Traffic Control and Constructability development and review
• Typical section development and pavement design

Skills and Attributes

• Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Civil3D
• Project design, procurement, and construction oversight

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering, MS a plus
• 5-8 years of transportation engineering experience required
• 8-11 years of transportation engineering experience preferred
• RI PE expected or ability to obtain within 6 months
