ABOUT THE POSITION

Electrical Designer – Transit & Rail | Hybrid | New York, NY | Newark, NJ

 

VHB is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our dynamic growing Transportation practice in the Northeast. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex transit infrastructure projects and play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparation of design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies associated with transit and rail traction power systems
  • Assist and prepare final design document preparation for traction power/station distribution, facility power, signal power and security systems on several types of transit infrastructure projects in NY
  • Works on plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements
  • Review contractor design drawings and specifications to ensure system requirements are met

Skills and Attributes

  • Familiarity of railway power distribution systems design preferred
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writing
  • Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
  • Robust technical and critical thinking skills
  • Detail oriented and quality focused
  • Strong project/task management skills

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of electrical design engineering experience required
  • AutoCAD or MicroStation proficiency required
  • System Analysis Software (eTAP or SKM) familiarity is a plus
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or related field of study required, Master’s preferred
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) preferred

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $83,000-105,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
