ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Project Manager - Site Investigation & Remediation | Hybrid | NYC

 

VHB is seeking a Senior Project Manager / Senior Environmental Engineer / Geologist for our strong and growing Site Investigation & Remediation practice in New York City. The ideal candidate will be market connected and support and guide business development pursuits in New York City. This hire will serve as a team leader and work closely alongside our Planning, Engineering, and Mobility teams on complex urban redevelopment projects. The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary working environment that focuses on solving unique urban development challenges. This hire would assist with the development and implementation of environmental strategies for real estate, institutional and/or governmental projects, project management, business development, and client relationship management.

 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues in other disciplines
  • Develop solutions to unique urban development challenges
  • Manage client relationships
  • Attend and lead meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/compliance issues
  • Prepare New York City and New York State environmental mitigation/remediation compliance documents including compliance with City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR) and State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA)
  • Develop and manage effective site investigation and remediation field programs
  • Participate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partners
  • Develop new project opportunities, and prepare and manage proposal submissions
  • Interpret and communicate investigation findings
  • Leverage technology to support data management and visualization
  • Write technical reports, correspondence, notes, and memoranda
  • Mentors and may supervise junior team members

Skills and Attributes

  • Experience working on large urban redevelopment projects
  • Working knowledge of the various components of CEQR and SEQRA requirements
  • Effectively communicate complex multi-disciplinary topics with colleagues and clients
  • Strong knowledge of New York City and New York state remediation programs
  • Recognize and manage business risk
  • Creatively problem solve and work independently
  • Strong understanding of City and State regulatory requirements
  • Ability to make quick decisions regarding regulatory applicability and respond to clients in an efficient manner
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Motivated and able to problem-solve
  • Strong knowledge of site assessment/characterization, data analysis, remediation techniques, and risk assessment
  • Experience working on contaminated sites throughout New York including interaction with local, State, and Federal regulators

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, or related field
  • 11-15 years of professional site investigation and remediation experience, with 5 recent years of remediation projects in the NYC metro market, required
  • 15+ years of site investigation and remediation experience preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Master’s Degree preferred (a master’s degree may substitute for 1 year of experience)
  • OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required
  • Professional Licensure or on track to obtain (PG, PE, CHMM)

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $117,000-170,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
