Designers at an engineering firm? Yes! We are thrilled to announce an opening for a Creative Design Coordinator in our I-64 Operation (in our Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, or Richmond, VA, offices). The selected candidate will join our Mid-Atlantic Marketing Team and will be instrumental in supporting our design needs for a wide range of print and digital marketing materials.


This position provides an opportunity to grow your career within a dynamic, cross-functional team that includes design, marketing, communication, technical practitioners, and industry leaders. Our creative teams are involved in a diverse range of design projects that aim to positively impact our communities and the world around us.


  • Under close supervision, assists with designing and/or producing pursuit materials and presentations, internal or external visibility communications, and/or client deliverables.
  • Executes and collaborates on design assignments based on existing creative concepts, design briefs, and vision. This may include multiple channels and products (e.g., digital communications, social media, email, print, animation, video, web design) to be created consistently.
  • Learns, uses, and adheres to corporate branding standards, including VHB’s marketing, communications, imagery, and deliverables templates and policies.
  • Creates, organizes, and helps maintain content and assets.
  • Participates in team meetings and training with marketing, communication, and design peers.
  • Assists in materials and document production while learning QA/QC standards.
  • May participate in meetings with technical staff with supervision from design or marketing staff.
  • May support graphic design projects for client deliverables (e.g., project branding, printed reports, online documents, public outreach materials, custom infographics, website assets).
  • May provides support on conferences, webinars, and other regional industry events and experiences.

  • Excellent creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Skills or interest in photography, video, animation, branding, website design, map creation within ArcGIS, UX design, or 3D modeling desired but not required.


  • 0-3 years of graphic design experience required, preferably in the AEC industry.
  • BFA in Graphic Design or related discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and Microsoft Office programs, including PowerPoint.
  • Involvement in industry affiliations preferred (e.g., AIGA).
  • Photography, video, and basic animation skills preferred; understanding of or interest in user experience design (UX) preferred.
  • This is a hybrid role with an expected minimum of 3 days in-office time.
