ABOUT THE POSITION

Civil/Structural Engineer - Substation / Energy | New England

Responsibilities

  • Manage the civil/structural aspects of electrical substation capital improvement and maintenance projects from initiation through closeout.
  • Collaborate with multidiscipline transmission and distribution electrical substation project teams and serve as a civil/structural client-facing point of contact.
  • Develop/review civil/structural engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and specifications.
  • Oversee steel/aluminum structure and shallow/deep foundation design.
  • Procure major/minor civil/structural materials.
  • Monitor and project financial performance.
  • Engagement in business development and client relations.

Skills & Abilities

  • Design civil/structural substation projects including foundations, structures, grading and drainage, permitting, specifications, and construction administration.
  • Contribute to substation design and associated plans including one-line diagrams, general arrangements sections, grounding & conduit plans, foundation plans, and bill of material (BOM) lists.
  • Collaborate with designers and CADD technicians in the development of drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes, and client specific project specifications and requirements.
  • Ability to manage deliverable and time commitments.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with ability to think critically.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • MS in Structural Engineering a plus
  • 3-5 years of professional civil/structural engineering experience 
  • 3+ years experience in the electrical substation area a plus
  • Experience with RISA-3D a plus
  • Experience with GIS Systems a plus
  • Experience with PLS-CADD software a plus
  • Experience with LPILE a plus
  • Experience with Microstation software a plus
