ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s growing New York City team is looking for an entry-level Transportation/Traffic Engineer to join our Mobility group. VHB’s Mobility group in NYC is a leader in the industry, working on a slate of interesting and dynamic transportation and mobility solutions. Responsibilities

  • Working within a team of professionals in developing mobility and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projects
  • Traffic impact studies
  • Traffic modeling using a variety of tools
  • Safety studies
  • Transportation planning analyses
  • Research and interpret transportation data, community statistics and demographics to assess the mobility needs of a community
  • Prepare written planning documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
  • Traffic data collection and tabulation
  • Intersection and roadway level of service analyses
  • Development, analysis and evaluation of traffic improvements
  • Design of traffic control devices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field, with coursework in Transportation/Traffic Engineering (Master’s Degree in Transportation Engineering would be a plus)
  • Minimum of 0-1 years of civil / transportation engineering / planning experience
  • 1-3 years of civil / transportation engineering / planning experience preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation or model-based design a plus
  • Experience with VISSIM, Synchro and HCS a plus
  • Experience with ArcGIS a plus
  • Experience with VBA, PYTHON, SQL, and databases a plus

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $75,000-$80,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
