ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s Orlando, FL office is seeking a Transportation Planner or Civil Engineer to join their Project Development & Environment (PD&E) group. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope.
Responsibilities
- Work within a team of professionals in developing Project Development & Environment (PD&E) studies, PD&E documents, transportation planning studies, corridor studies, and transportation master and action plans
- Occasional field data collection
- Assist with development of support materials for public involvement activities, organizing public meeting logistics, and attending public meetings
- Support with authorship of project-related documentation for a range of transportation planning and environment studies, demographic analyses, and multi-modal / transit-oriented projects
- Read and write summaries of large documents
- Prepare, edit and summarize technical reports and analyses.
- Document management for numerous project documents.
- Conduct planning assessments using analytical tools such as GIS to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop documentation to summarize results
- Attend client meetings and provide meeting summary of items discussed
- Organize work plans and weekly monitoring of progress on tasks and activities
Skills and Attributes
- Strong Organizational skills to manage multiple reports for multiple projects
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Very strong writing skills with experience in writing technical report documents
- Team-oriented with strong capability to work independently
- Excellent attention to detail
- A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
- The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Occasional travel to client meetings and presentations
Qualifications
- Candidates must have a BS in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or related field
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience
- 5-8 years experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience working on FDOT PD&E projects
- Experience with FDOT’s Statewide Environmental Project Tracker (SWEPT) is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Project, FDOT’s Environmental Screening Tool, and ESRI GIS applications desired
