Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s Tampa, FL office is looking for an Entry Level Transportation Engineer to join our Transportation team. The selected candidate will work with a dynamic team of transportation planners and engineers on a variety of public, private, and institutional projects. Our team uses its skills and experience to improve our communities with a sustainable, context-driven and integrated project delivery approach. Our clients include FDOT, municipalities, and private partners who support the development of the places we live, work, recreate and learn.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work with a team of professionals in a variety of transportation planning and traffic engineering projects in the transportation-related areas to develop mobility solutions for all users
  • Conduct multi-modal transportation analyses and develop recommendations
  • Conduct safety data collection, assessments and develop mitigations
  • Perform field observations and site visits
  • Prepare transportation impact, corridor and intersection improvement traffic and safety studies
  • Planning-level/conceptual design of transportation engineering and planning projects
  • Conduct research and preparation of reports and tables, and presenting findings and results to clients in report documentation or power-point presentation 

Skills and Attributes

  • Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in transportation engineering & planning required
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Comfortable working independently as well as on a team
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, committed and ability to multi-task on assignments
  • Strong computer skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving approach
  • Experience using industry-standard software design and analysis systems (e.g., CAD, GIS, Synchro, traffic simulation) preferred

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering 
  • 0-1 years of professional transportation engineering and/or planning experience
  • EIT preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Synchro, ArcGIS and/or HCS preferred
  • Experience with PTV VISSIM and/or Adobe Creative Suites products a plus
