ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB's Wethersfield, CT office has a need for an Environmental Scientist to join our growing Site Investigation & Remediation practice!
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage effective site investigation and remediation field programs
- Provide hands-on support during field exploration and testing
- Interpret and communicate investigation findings
- Leverage technology to support data management and visualization
- Manage and perform Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
- Investigates any quality problems that lead to project changes and modifies project plans as needed
- Ensures each project complies with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
- Establishes and monitors budgets to assess profitability
- Write technical reports, correspondence, notes and memoranda
Skills and Attributes
- Ability to work in field and office settings
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Motivated and able to problem-solve
- Familiarity working in urban environments, managing soil and groundwater on construction sites
- Familiarity with state regulatory programs (Property Transfer, Voluntary Remediation, and Brownfields)
- Strong knowledge of site assessment/characterization, data analysis, and remediation techniques
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a Natural Science related field (Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources)
- Master’s Degree preferred
- 3-5 years of professional environmental/remediation consulting experience required
- OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required
