Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our team to support our land development projects. This position can be based out of our Washington, D.C. or Tysons, VA office.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope. Our past and present clients include commercial, office, residential, industrial, and hospitality developers; Higher education, healthcare and K thru 12 Institutional entities; municipal and local government agencies, federal agencies including NAVFAC, State DOT’s, and private interests throughout the eastern United States.

Responsibilities

  • Work within a team of professionals in developing engineering plans and specifications for a variety of land development, water resource, transportation, and general civil engineering projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of land entitlement permitting documents.
  • Prepare Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Contract Documentation.
  • Technical and design report writing.
  • Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss engineering design/permitting issues with them.
  • Assist with activities during Construction Administration phase of projects.
  • Assist with managing small size projects.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering
  • 1-3 years of professional site/civil engineering experience
  • EIT/EI preferred, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Have experience/proficiency with one or more of the following programs: AutoCAD, HydroCAD, StormCAD, and Microsoft Suite.
  • Experience with GIS Systems is a plus
