Join VHB’s Raleigh NC Office as a Project Engineer to help grow their expanding and innovative Land Development and Planning and Design team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope. Our clients include mixed-use, biotech, residential, multifamily, affordable housing, industrial, and hospitality developers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all internal project aspects, including data review, information analysis, and ensuring compliance with standards and design concepts.
  • Lead the development of preliminary layouts, design concepts, and detailed design drawings, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards and codes.
  • Utilize, instruct, and delegate application usage for generating project-specific drawings, reports, or other technical deliverables
  • Manage quality control procedures and recommend QC process enhancements
  • Train and mentor junior staff on technical aspects and policies
  • Develop engineering plans and specifications in a team environment for a multitude of projects

Skills and Attributes

  • Willingness to learn implementation of integrated services projects in a team with multidisciplinary skills.
  • Knowledge of land development construction including codes and development regulations
  • Innovative design skills to develop solutions to complex projects.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Exhibits strong leadership skills and growth potential

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering or related degree
  • 5+ years of increasing engineering experience on complex projects preferred
  • PE licensure in NC or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Proficient in the following: AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Project, MS Office.
  • Proficient in site layout, grading, utility design and stormwater management
  • Experience in developing and compiling/producing site plans, construction documents, specification, and engineering reports
  • Experience with GIS Systems is a plus – GIS is one of the tools we use to create better projects.
