ABOUT THE POSITION

Elevate your career as a Senior Transportation Highway Engineer with VHB’s I64 Team!

 

You’ll lead highway and drainage design, traffic control planning, cost estimating, and project management, while playing a crucial role in business development and client relationship building. Join our multi-disciplinary team in delivering sustainable, context-driven projects for clients like VDOT, NPS, local municipalities, and private partners. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering design and analysis on complex transportation projects, including grading, stormwater management, and erosion control.
  • Produce design deliverables such as plans, construction documents, specifications, estimates, reports, and technical memorandums.
  • Conduct client presentations to address project goals and solutions.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and subconsultants.
  • Perform fieldwork for design and construction projects as needed.
  • Implement QC/QA best practices in compliance with VHB and client standards.
  • Provide services related to the construction bidding process and active construction management.
  • Participate in business development activities including proposal development, scope of work, and fee estimation.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD with Civil 3D Corridor and/or MicroStation with Geopak or Open Roads.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills for both project and business development.
  • Ability to mentor junior staff and manage technical tasks effectively.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering required; MS preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional transportation engineering experience; 11+ years preferred.
  • PE license in VA strongly preferred or able to obtain within a year.
  • Virginia Advanced Work Zone TCDS and experience with VDOT funded project programs a plus.
  • Valid driver's license required due to travel to client meetings and project sites.
