Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s Atlanta, GA office is hiring a Transportation Planning Intern to join the team for Summer 2025.

 

Candidates should have an interest in transportation planning and/or traffic engineering and desire to support a wide range of planning studies that include multimodal planning, community planning, transit planning, corridors analysis, and coordination of public involvement and agency outreach efforts.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct of planning assessments using analytical tools such as GIS to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop documentation to summarize results
  • Assistance with development of support materials for public involvement programs
  • Support of project-related documentation for a range of transportation planning studies, traffic operations projects, grant initiatives, and multi-modal / transit-oriented projects.
  • Performance of field data collection and other on-site project support activities

Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to manage multiple assignments and work in a team environment
  • A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Some knowledge of data analysis tools such as ArcGIS and Excel
  • Experience with common software tools such as Word, PowerPoint, and graphics software

Qualifications

  • Interest in transportation planning and/or traffic engineering
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in planning or related field
