Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under moderate supervision, leads, develops, writes, and produces routine to moderately complex proposals and qualifications in compliance with client deadlines, proposal budgets, and quality expectations. Assists in formulating pursuit strategy and development of content and marketing materials.

 

The ideal candidate can work in a hybrid setup from VHB's New York City, NY office. This arrangement involves working in the office three days a week.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Pursuits

  • Leads and prepares routine proposals and qualification packages with standard oversight from marketing management and/or senior-level marketing team members.
  • Leads kick-off meetings with guidance from senior marketing staff or management as needed. Leads and prepares materials for kick-off meetings and standard proposal review processes. 
  • Independently prepares proposal management plans (e.g., outlines, page limits, client technical and administrative requirements, proposal schedule).
  • Interprets RFP requirements. Assigns tasks to kick-off meeting attendees.
  • Develops proposal and/or technical writing instructions and actions for technical pursuit members with supervision and guidance as needed.
  • Leads routine check-in proposal meetings.
  • Coordinates pursuit presentations preparation and rehearsals.
  • Serves as a strategist and collaborative partner with technical staff.
  • Works closely with graphic designers, subject matter experts, and other technical staff to produce compliant, on-time, differentiating proposals.
  • Regularly communicates with subconsultants and tracks subconsultant materials for proposals.
  • Verifies that proposal submissions adhere to the solicitation requirements (e.g., formatting, content, page count, schedule, costs, deliverables, milestones).
  • Verifies compliance with VHB’s branding standards, formats, and template styles.
  • Evolves and begins to grow skillsets to lead more complex pursuit efforts. Participates in pursuit strategy and capture planning sessions. Shadows senior marketers during Super Strategic pursuits. Provides support as needed.

Skills and Attributes

  • Experience assisting or leading proposals preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality.
  • Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills.
  • Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with coworkers.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented.
  • Persuasive writing techniques.
  • Ability to adapt to changes with ease.
  • Demonstrated ability to move projects forward.
  • Involvement in industry affiliations preferred (e.g., SMPS).
  • Skills and knowledge must be commensurate with required experience and job level

Qualifications

  • 0-3 years of proposal, writing, or marketing experience, preferably in AEC industry
  • BA in Marketing, English, Communications, or related discipline

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York, NY is $64,000-69,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education and experience.
