Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s Bedford, NH office is seeking an entry level Site Civil Engineer to support our Land Engineering practice.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work within a team of professionals in developing site civil engineering plans, reports, and specifications for a multitude of land development projects.
  • Provide civil engineering services for retail, residential, institutional, renewable energy, municipal, and industrial site design, including site layout, grading and drainage design, and utility design.
  • Preparation and/or reviewing design criteria, drawings, and specifications.
  • Compilation of stormwater management reports, including hydrologic modeling and pipe sizing.
  • Assist in the preparation of due diligence, permitting, design, and construction documents
  • Technical report writing
  • Attending meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues
  • Attend site visits during the course of the project

Skills and Attributes

  • Ability to think critically and creatively in a team-focused environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • AutoCAD,  HydroCAD, StormCAD, ArcGIS experience a plus
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Knowledge of local and state regulations governing site design preferred

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering (a master’s may be substituted for 2 years of experience)
  • 0-1 years of professional site/civil engineering experience 
  • Individuals holding active OSHA 10-Hour Construction.
  • EIT/FE preferred, or the ability to obtain within 6 months
