Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

The NYC office of VHB is seeking a CAD Designer to join its team. You’ll be a member of a growing group which boasts robust expertise in CAD and design, especially in the realms of MicroStation and AutoCAD. The team excels in delivering Award winning transportation projects throughout the region while being able to immerse yourself in a dynamic environment where technical skills are honed and applied to create impactful solutions.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills produce high-quality deliverables in an efficient manner
  • Motivated to support and mentor others on CAD and drawing production procedures
  • Has a persistent initiative to continually learn new technical practices and to earn the confidence of clients, company management/colleagues, and regulators
  • Collaborate with engineers and architects to develop civil and structural drawings from conceptual phase to final design for a variety of buildings and transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Develop /update BIM standards, workflows and quality control to ensure consistency, quality and efficiency
  • Mentor junior Revit and CAD designers and lead the design team on model coordination and plan set production.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Team oriented with strong capability to work independently.
  • Understanding of setting up a digital work environment for plan set production.
  • Ability to apply VHB CAD standards and provide quality control for CAD standards across disciplines.
  • Work with a group to manage large project drawing productions and apply agency standards.
  • Motivated to support others on MicroStation, AutoCAD, and drawing production procedures.  Experience with Revit a plus.
  • Has a persistent initiative to continually learn new technical practices and to earn the confidence of co-workers, company management/colleagues, and regulators.

Requirements/ Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree on relevant field of study preferred.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in MicroStation and AutoCAD plan production required; 5+ years’ experience preferred.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of drafting standards.
  • Additional proficiency in MicroStation is preferred.

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $70,000 – 90,000, estimated salary range for Albany/Hauppauge locations is $60,000-75,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
