We’re seeking a Creative Design Specialist to join our expanding New England Marketing Team. This position offers the opportunity to advance your career within a dynamic team, while contributing to a variety of projects that aim to positively impact our communities and the world around us.
As a Creative Design Specialist, you will be responsible for producing design assets as part of larger, holistic projects that support the firm’s business development and marketing efforts. This includes creating visually engaging proposals, presentations, and other client-facing materials while maintaining brand consistency across all mediums. You will work closely with internal teams to create designs that effectively communicate our firm’s capabilities and enhance pursuit strategies.
The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and ready to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, impactful marketing solutions.
Candidates must provide either a portfolio link or PDF of work samples that highlight your experience with document layout, graphic development, and presentation design.
Responsibilities
- Pursuit Strategy and Proposal Development: Support proposal production through all phases of development while collaborating with team members to strengthen messaging and competitive positioning. Plan, conceptualize, and design compelling and impactful graphics that convey complex information more concisely (e.g., covers/tabs, long-form document layout, charts/tables, maps, infographics, technical diagrams).
- Visibility and Communications: Provide support on internal or external visibility communications, conferences, webinars, and other regional industry events and experiences (e.g., digital communications, social media, email, ads, presentations).
- Client Deliverables: May support and coordinate graphic design projects for client deliverables (e.g., project branding, printed reports, online documents, public outreach materials, custom infographics, website assets).
- Coordination and Collaboration: Participate in information sharing and collaboration with team members, confirming milestones and expectations are clearly communicated for smooth project completion. May participate or present in meetings with technical staff with supervision from senior design or marketing staff.
- Brand Compliance: Learn, use, and adhere to corporate brand standards, including VHB’s marketing, communications, imagery, and deliverables templates and policies.
- Closeout and Asset Management: Complete closeout of projects and contribute to the organization and management of key marketing data and visual assets.
- Best Practices: Model marketing and communication best practices, share knowledge with teams, and strengthen internal relationships with both marketing peers and technical staff. Participate and present in team meetings and trainings.
- Company Understanding: Take initiative to learn about VHB’s mission, core values, markets, services, regional leadership, and organizational goals.
- Project Management and Accountability: Take ownership of personal performance, respond constructively to challenges, and complete all assignments in compliance with deadlines, budgets, and quality expectations.

- Skills or interest in photography, video, animation, branding, website design, map creation within ArcGIS, UX design, or 3D modeling desired but not required
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of graphic design experience required, preferably in the AEC industry
- BFA in Graphic Design or related discipline
- Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Expected knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including PowerPoint (VHB is on a PC platform)
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle simultaneous, varied assignments while providing consistent quality
- This is a hybrid role with an expected minimum 3 days in-office time
- The ability to travel to other offices, off-site meetings and events as required.
