Senior Transportation / Infrastructure Engineer

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB has an opening for a part-time Senior Transportation Engineer to join our New York City, NY or Newark, New Jersey offices.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Senior Transportation / Infrastructure Engineer for federal, state, and local clients including the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ)
• Develop and manage client relationships
• Assist with strategy for expansion of transportation / infrastructure services with the PANYNJ
• Monitor project technical performance
• Execute scope associated with project delivery for transportation / infrastructure design projects for all stages from feasibility studies to final PS&E packages at letting on rail system, bridge, tunnel, airport and port projects.
• Participate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partners
• Develop new project opportunities, and prepare and manage proposal submissions

Skills and Attributes

• Substantial technical and project management experience
• Ability to manage a multidisciplinary team of professionals
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in highway design
• Thorough knowledge of PANYNJ policies and practices in project delivery is required
• Advanced knowledge of local and state regulations governing transportation design including rail systems, bridges, tunnels, airports and ports
• Software exposure: MicroStation/AutoCAD and Open Roads Designer is a plus

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering, transportation planning or similar discipline
• 15+ years of professional transportation / infrastructure engineering experience, with at least 10 years of experience working on PANYNJ projects, required
• NY & NJ Professional Engineer (PE) licenses required
• Proven success in the transportation / infrastructure and/or state & local government market sectors

Our best estimate of the salary range, if full-time, for this position located in New York is $200,000-220,000.  Our best estimate of the salary range, if full-time, for this position located in New Jersey is $190,000-210,000. This offer is determined based on several job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
