Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB is seeking an Entry Level Structural Bridge Designer to join our dynamic and growing Structures group in the Northeast. In this position, you would assist in the planning, analysis, design, and detailing of bridge and other transportation related structural projects from railroad to highway.

  

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering design and detailing of highway, pedestrian and railroad bridges and other structures
  • Assist in the field with bridge inspection
  • Calculate quantities and develop construction cost estimates
  • Prepare contract documents and design plans

Skills and Attributes

  • Must possess strong technical skills in bridge design and detailing of steel, reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete and timber bridges and other structures
  • Ability to develop alternatives analyses, preliminary design reports, contract plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates in conformity with accepted engineering standards and procedures
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and willing to take responsibility
  • Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality
  • Effective and comfortable in a highly collaborative team environment  

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred)
  • 0-1 years of professional structural design experience

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $82,000-86,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
