ABOUT THE POSITION

Environmental Engineer - Site Investigation & Remediation | Montpelier/Winooski, VT; Watertown/ Boston, MA; Bedford, NH; Wethersfield, CT; Providence, RI

 

VHB is seeking an emerging Environmental Engineer for our growing National Site Investigation & Remediation practice. Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support during field exploration and testing related to site investigation and remediation including the collection of environmental media samples
  • Prepare and adhere to site specific health and safety plans
  • Prepare clear and accurate documentation of field exploration and testing activities
  • Coordinate with laboratory and drilling subcontractors
  • Oversee and document the work of subcontractors (e.g., drillers and test pit excavation contractors)
  • Review and communicate investigation findings to team members
  • Enter and manage environmental data in databases or other environmental data management systems.
  • Participate in environmental due diligence activities
  • Prepare technical reports, correspondence, notes, and memoranda

Skills and Attributes

  • Entry-level knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in geoenvironmental consulting
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulatory processes
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software (e.g., EQuIS, GIS Systems and AutoCAD)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with coworkers
  • Recognize and manage business risk
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented
  • Ability to work in field and office settings
  • Recognize and help to identify business risk

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 0-1 years of environmental or geoenvironmental consulting experience
  • Intern experience preferred
  • OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required after 30 days of employment

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $73,000–$76,000 for candidates located in Boston/Watertown, MA, and $63,000–$66,000 for candidates located in Vermont. Final compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including individual qualifications, education, and experience.
