Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Construction Inspector | Augusta, ME

VHB is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to provide construction inspection and administration services on a variety of bridge, roadway, and other transportation-related construction projects on site.

 

Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to project locations as required by the role.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide assurance that the project has been constructed in accordance with plans and specifications
  • Provide recommendations concerning construction issues
  • Review and/or process shop drawings and other submittals
  • Review pay requisitions from contractors
  • Prepare construction change orders and meeting minutes/correspondence related to the project
  • Review material tests results and reports
  • May serve as a Senior Inspector under the supervision of a Resident Engineer, on DOT or municipal projects on site

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong technical knowledge of construction methods and practices related to highway, bridge, and site/civil projects
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems
  • Ability to work well in team-oriented structure
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction plans and construction specifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of supervisory construction experience on highway, bridge, and site/civil projects in Maine required
  • AS or BS in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • NETTCP HMA Paving Inspector/Quality Assurance Technologists certifications preferred
  • Familiarity with local construction inspection requirements and procedures 
  • Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to project locations as required by the role
