ABOUT THE POSITION The Employer Outreach Specialist assists with worksite-based outreach efforts, building and maintaining partnerships with employer partners and strategic partners within the 9-county area of the Florida Department of Transportation’s District 5 (Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Sumter, and Volusia). The region’s Commuter Assistance program, and Transportation Demand Management (TDM) reThink Your Commute, aims to bring together businesses and employees to explore the shared benefits of carpooling, vanpooling, transit, biking, walking, and telecommuting. By connecting commuters with alternatives to driving alone, the program strengthens Central Florida’s quality of life by decreasing traffic congestion, improving air quality, conserving natural resources, and helping people save money. You will assist employers with the development and implementation of worksite-specific commuter options programs that reduce drive-alone travel among employees. You will work in a fast-paced environment with daily interaction with the client and employer contacts. This position will offer 20 hours per week for the first 3 - 6 months, with a high chance of additional weekly hours. Responsibilities Performs a range of outreach tasks aimed at enhancing opportunities for individual travelers and commuters to utilize non-drive-alone transportation options, including carpooling, vanpooling, public transit, bicycling, walking, and teleworking. Activities including coordinating and providing for the strategic development, implementation, and administration of outreach programs, community relations programs and activities; coordinates resources and facilitates communication between staff, local jurisdictions, transit partner agency staff, and community business groups; and plans and staffs a variety of community/business outreach events. ABOUT THE POSITION VHB’s growing Southeast Environmental Services team has an immediate need for a Water Resource Director in our Orlando, FL office.  The successful candidate will have at least 15 years of professional experience, including water resource consulting experience in the energy, transportation, land development/engineering, and/or local government markets. Applicants should be experienced in designing studies, analyzing data, modeling, and with the preparation of reports and local, state, and federal environmental permit applications within their water resource discipline. In addition to leading water resource discipline work as part of high-profile transportation, private land development, and environmental/natural resource projects, the Water Resources Director will also be responsible for leading business development efforts and the supervision and mentoring of water resources staff.   The position offers the opportunity to be a leader within our successful water resources practice that provides municipal, state, and federal governmental agencies and private sector clients throughout the Southeast Region with a full array of integrated professional water resources services including:  - Watershed management / Water quality treatment - Stormwater engineering and management - Floodplain management A strong candidate for this role must be competent in performing water resources engineering work and demonstrate a broad knowledge of hydrologic/ hydraulic analysis and design methods. A strong candidate will be able to independently make sound engineering decisions, develop water resource design plans, write design specifications, and plan technical reports. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct.        General Responsibilities - Leading multi-disciplinary projects with hydrologic, hydraulic, or water quality treatment focus including interaction with staff and clients - Identifying and pursuing new business in Central Florida and throughout the Southeast region. Performs lead discipline role in proposals and presentations - Analyzes technical problems, assesses the feasibility of proposed techniques and procedures and devises new approaches and alternative solutions Management and Business Development - Managing clients and overseeing technical staff to complete projects. Manage personnel involved in engineering investigations and planning work - Assisting with business development opportunities and growth of the water resources practice in Central Florida and throughout the Southeast region.
