This is a full-time position Monday through Friday from 9a-6p subject to change based on the needs of the company. - Assists with natural resource studies (e.g. stream, wetland, and buffer delineations and functional assessments, wildlife habitat evaluations, and rare species surveys).  Field duties will include GPS data collection, habitat mapping, vegetation monitoring, wildlife surveys and other field assessments, as needed. - Assists in the collection and analysis of data (e.g. samples, reports, maps, drawings, tests, aerial photographs, evaluation, plan, and permit projects). Using prescribed methods, performs field observations and gathers environmental data samples. - Assists project managers with development of federal, state, and local permit support documents. - GIS mapping and data analysis. - Assists with construction oversight and permit compliance monitoring, as needed. - Writes routine technical reports. Drafts notes, correspondence, and memoranda. - Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies and procedures. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable in Land Surveying for a variety of applications, including boundary determinations, topographic surveys, utility surveys, highway surveys and subdivisions. About the Position Survey Project Manager | Springfield, MA Responsibilities - Responsible for successfully managing complex projects, staff, and clients - Perform business development activities to market new survey work and other VHB services - Establish budgets and schedules for new projects - Write proposals and review survey contracts, thorough understanding of terms and conditions - Guide and direct survey staff with respect to budgets and schedules - Performance and/or oversight of surveying calculations - Analysis and interpretation of public records research, including deeds, plans and other pertinent documents for the project - Coordination of Project staff, field crews and Survey/CAD Technicians - Perform field checks, manage quality control of all products - Professional certification of maps, plans and drawings Skills and Abilities - Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of Land Surveying, including legal requirements, boundary determinations and ALTA requirements - Knowledge of local subdivision and zoning requirements - Thorough understanding of the use of up-to-date survey technologies and interface with AutoCAD Civil 3D - Ability to direct and monitor construction layout services - Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills - Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills - Detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Surveying/Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred - 5+ years of professional land surveying experience, including managing large-scale, complex land surveying projects - CT, MAPLS license required, others preferred. - Client management and business development experience - Proficiency in all aspects of field and office land surveying including boundary line and topographic survey as well as construction stakeout   Please submit applications online.   This position requires COVID-19 vaccination per client requirements.   New employees will be onboarded virtually and begin their employment from home. About the Position Survey/CAD Tech II | Springfield, MA Responsibilities   Perform various land surveying and CAD tasks under the direction of more senior Land Surveyors including: - Operation, transport and setup of total stations, data collectors, GPS, and other land surveying equipment - Land surveying including boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic survey, route survey, construction stakeout and utility surveys - Documenting all phases of survey work through clear field notes and data collection - Perform survey office calculations to process field data - Perform public records research to obtain deeds, plans and other pertinent documents for the project - Apply the Principles of Boundary Surveying to review and interpret deeds and plans to determine the location of boundary lines - Perform CAD functions relating to the production and development of survey plans - May perform field crew coordination and set up for all types of field surveys - Direct the activities of a survey crew when needed   Skills & Abilities  - Ability to learn the proper use of GPS equipment and Robotic Instruments and mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of geometry - Understanding of boundary, topographic, construction, and utility surveys - Able to think critically - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with survey staff and clients - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry - Ability to conduct tasks independently and review work of others Qualifications - Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Surveying/Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred - 3-5 years of progressive professional land surveying experience, including experience with CAD and/or other drafting software - Experienced in the Principles of Boundary Survey, Topographic, Construction/Utility Surveys and electronic data collection - Thorough understanding of ALTA and boundary surveys is required - Must be detail oriented, willing to travel and work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements - Ability to transport land surveying equipment, navigate and traverse through difficult terrain, environments, and wooded areas - Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record - Must be able to lift 75lbs Please submit applications online.   This position requires COVID-19 vaccination per client requirements.   New employees will be onboarded virtually and begin their employment from home.
