ABOUT THE POSITION VHB’s growing New England Transportation group is seeking a Project Manager of Highway/Roadway Design    In this position, you would be responsible for the management of transportation engineering projects covering roadways, bikeways, and utility design.  Duties include overseeing traffic engineering, stormwater management, drainage, temporary traffic control, traffic signals, construction observation, cost estimating and construction administration. Our team uses its skills and experience to improve our communities with a sustainable, context-driven and integrated project delivery mindset. Our clients include local municipalities, MassDOT, DCR and other state public transportation agencies, and private partners who support the development of the places we live, work, recreate and learn.   Responsibilities: - Managing large multi-disciplinary highway reconstruction projects, both traditional bid-build and alternate delivery (Design-Build, PPP, etc.) - Working with Contractors for the delivery of Design-Build projects. - Training / mentoring junior staff in various aspects of highway design. - Assisting with the production and delivering transportation projects through the construction administration phase - Pre-design project planning and financial management - Design of highways and roads including the development of geometric layout, grading, and drainage, working with utilities, and environmental permitting - Development of technical design and specification documents Qualifications: - BS in Engineering required - 11+ years required, 15+ years preferred of roadway experience, with at least 5+ years of experience managing highway design projects - Current PE in Massachusetts or licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Massachusetts PE license within six months - Our team works a flexible hybrid schedule, with the option to work from any of our MA office locations. This hire will serve as a team leader and work closely alongside our Planning, Engineering, and Mobility teams on complex urban redevelopment projects. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required - Professional Licensure or on track to obtain (PG, PE, CHMM) Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $117,000-170,000. Responsibilities   - Work within a team of professionals in developing transportation design and planning solutions for a multitude of multimodal transportation projects - Develop traffic sign, markings, and signal plans - Prepare traffic signal timing plans - Perform traffic engineering studies using Synchro, VISSIM, and other analysis tools Skills and Abilities   -  Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills -  Comfortable working independently as well as on a team -  Detail oriented -  Self-motivated -  Strong computer skills -  Critical thinking Qualifications   - Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering - Minimum of 0-1 year of engineering experience, whether through coursework or professional experience - 1-3 years of professional transportation engineering experience with a focus in Traffic, preferably in a consulting environment highly preferred - MicroStation and/or AutoCAD experience  - Demonstrated use of Traffic engineering/operations software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, InRoads, and/or Civil 3D WE ARE VHB! ABOUT THE POSITION VHB is growing and we have an opening for an experienced Transportation Engineer to join our Transportation Design team. ABOUT THE POSITION Project Manager - Site Investigation & Remediation | Hauppauge, NY | Hybrid   VHB is seeking a Project Manager / Senior Environmental Scientist / Engineer / Geologist for our strong and growing Site Investigation & Remediation practice in Hauppauge, NY. This hire will assist in team, client, and project management responsibilities.   Responsibilities - Work closely with clients to determines requirements and develop plans, specifications, drawings, instructions, cost estimates, reports, final bid packages, and related documents - Develop and manage effective site investigation and remediation field programs - Provide mentoring and hands-on support to junior team members during field exploration and testing - Interpret and communicate investigation findings - Leverage technology to support data management and visualization - Manage Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, engineering evaluation/cost analyses, remedial investigation/feasibility studies and long-term monitoring programs - Review and write technical reports, correspondence, notes, and memoranda Skills and Attributes - Ability to work primarily in the office with some field oversight - Effectively communicate complex topics with colleagues and clients - Recognize and manage business risk - Problem solve and work independently - Strong understanding of State regulatory requirements - Ability to make quick decisions regarding regulatory applicability and respond to clients in an efficient manner - Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills - Motivated and able to problem-solve - Strong knowledge of site assessment/characterization, data analysis, remediation techniques, and risk assessment - Experience working on contaminated sites throughout New York including interaction with local, State, and Federal regulators - PFAS experience and knowledge preferred Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, or related field required - 8-11 years of professional environmental remediation experience required, depending on level of education (master’s may substitute for 1 year) - Master’s Degree preferred - OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required - Professional Licensure expected or on track to obtain (PE, PG, CHMM, QEP) Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Hauppauge, NY is $87,000-125,000.
