  About the Position VHB is seeking an IT Services Specialist to join our Corporate Information Technology team. This is an exciting opportunity for a well-organized individual who is deeply interested in technology as a career and possesses the ability and desire to learn on the job. The candidate for this position will be a part of a dynamic IT Services group consisting of a dozen IT professionals across the Eastern Seaboard. This position will be based in our headquarters in Watertown, MA as well as provide remote support to our other VHB offices. This position will also require travel to our Boston and Providence, RI offices. The successful candidate will be an integral part of these regional offices, empowering the members of these offices with technology products and services to drive digital transformation in alignment with VHB’s generational company ideals. This role is perfect for a service-minded individual who wants to pursue a career in technology. About the Position Geomatics Equipment Operator | Hauppauge, NY  Responsibilities   Perform various land surveying tasks under the direction of more senior Land Surveyors including: - Operation, transport and setup of Robotic total stations, data collectors, GPS, and other land surveying equipment - Land surveying including boundary line, topographic survey, construction stakeout and utility surveys - Reconnaissance and recovery of land surveying markers through use of hand tools and digging - Construction stakeout of proposed improvements, including installation of stakes through use of sledgehammers and hand tools - Operation and maintenance of surveying equipment  - Documenting all phases of survey work through clear field notes and data collection   Skills and Abilities - Proficient in reading, understanding, and evaluating the significance of survey, right-of-way, engineering, and architectural drawings with respect to each survey project - Ability to learn the proper use of GPS equipment and Robotic Instruments and mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of geometry - Ability to learn and understand the basics of boundary, topographic, construction, and utility surveys - Able to think critically - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with survey staff and clients - AutoCAD experience desirable    Qualifications - HS Diploma, Associate, or bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying/Engineering or related field preferred, not required - 0-3 years of geomatics coursework - 0-3 years of professional land surveying experience and - Must be detail oriented, willing to travel and work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements - Ability to transport land surveying equipment, navigate and traverse through difficult terrain, environments, and wooded areas - Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record - Must be willing to travel and stay overnight for assignments outside local area (anticipated to be less than 15% of assignments) - Must be able to lift 75lbs - Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D desirable, but not required - Experience with Leica survey equipment desirable, but not required   Please submit applications online. VHB has an immediate need for a Regional Transportation Technology Manager for the local region to drive growth and to direct execution of VHB’s Transportation Technology programs in the local market.    The successful candidate responsible for establishing, guiding, directing, and overseeing VHB’s Transportation Technology services within the local market, consistent with VHB’s Strategic Plan and OneVHB.   The Transportation Technology Manager will partner with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and the Transportation Technology Director, in outlining VHB’s strategic approach, identifying a roadmap for successful growth, evaluating performance, developing strategic planning, and assessing new business ventures in the transportation market.     Responsibilities: - Drives growth and directs execution of VHB’s Transportation Technology programs, working with CTO, Transportation Technology Group Leader (TTG), local Regional Manager (RM), and Service Leaders (SL) to bring the best transportation technology to client challenges (“value engineering with technology”). - Provides project executive oversight on key transportation-related technology projects to help ensure clear scoping and financially viable deliverables in the short and long term. - In collaboration with TTG Leaders and RM, identifies, develops, recruits and mentors VHB’s future transportation personnel with a focus on technology, including those with strong business development and client relationship expertise. - Understands the latest trends in transportation technology and works with SLs and RM to build and maintain local market knowledge to assist TTG leaders in making appropriate investment and prioritization decisions. - Evaluates strategic initiatives and provide guidance to CTO, TTG leaders, Regional Managers and Market and Service leaders as to their alignment with the overall transportation technology enabled strategy. Develop our vision for VHB in the coming years to achieve a strategic position in the Transportation Technology market for local region. - Provide technical knowledge ITS / Transportation Technology that ranges from planning, design, implementation, and operations of roadside infrastructure. - Understand the current Transportation Technology services / staff resources provided by VHB, and coordinate team strengths and weaknesses. - Assist marketing in development of VHB’s external visibility, branding and promotional efforts related to Transportation Technology in local markets. In addition, represent VHB at conferences, seminars, industry events and provide technical presentations. - Serve as Principal in Charge / Project Management on major strategic pursuits. About the Position VHB’s Richmond, VA office is seeking a GIS Analyst to join the team.   Under close supervision receives specific assignments to conduct standard analyses of spatial data for users. Produces maps expressing the results of analytical processes using desktop software. Coordinates the procurement and distribution of spatial data. Participates in the design and implementation of spatial databases in the system and assisting programming staff understand spatial data processes while creating and maintaining end user applications.   Responsibilities - Performs standard analysis of spatial data using GIS technology (e.g., buffering, spatial overlays, distance calculations). - Researches and corrects problems with data using spatial and logical analyses. - Performs data searches and retrievals. - Extracts and organizes data. - Research source documents to resolve missing or conflicting data. - Converts GIS data to CAD software format. - Uses coordinate geometry to convert surveying data to GIS format. - Manages basic GIS projects or components of more complex GIS projects. - Creates and manages online tools using spatial data. - Serves as a database administrator for spatial data. - May review work products of other technical staff. - Participates in professional and personal development aligned with career goals. - Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and VHB policies and procedures.   Skills and Attributes - Theoretical knowledge of the principles of geographic information science and GIS technology. - Beginner skill in the use of GIS software, particularly ArcGIS in its desktop and online forms. - Ability to develop and maintain online spatial data tools for non-GIS users. - Fundamental skill in applying GIS technology to solve analytical problems. - Fundamental knowledge of relational database management systems and the ability to use the SQL language. - Knowledge of the fundamentals of Global Positioning System and skill in the use of GPS technology for data collection. - Ability to understand and employ LiDAR data. - Ability to utilize data transformation software as a means of importing and exporting data for use by the engineering department. - Ability to express meaning through cartography. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. - Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. - Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with coworkers. - Self-motivated, highly organized, and detail oriented. - Skills and knowledge must be commensurate with required experience and job level.
