ABOUT THE POSITION Geomatics Survey Project Manager | Hybrid position   VHB’s growing New England region is seeking a Geomatics Survey Project Manager to join our Geomatics team. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable in Land Surveying for a variety of applications, including boundary determinations, topographic surveys, utility surveys, highway surveys and subdivisions. The position requires up-to-date knowledge of current technologies, and a proven ability to manage land surveying projects. Potential for candidate to be hybrid based out of our Wethersfield, CT, or Providence, RI offices.   Responsibilities - Manages projects, project staff, and clients - Project management, including management of budget, scope, and schedule for small, moderate, and large land survey projects - Management of project staff and clients - Performance and/or oversight of surveying calculations - Analysis and interpretation of public records research, including deeds, plans and other pertinent documents for the project - Perform field checks, manage quality control of all products - Coordinate survey efforts with other groups in an integrated services environment Skills and Attributes - Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of Land Surveying, including legal requirements, boundary determinations and ALTA requirements - Proficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural, and structural drawings - Experience with electronic instruments, field data collectors, AutoCAD and Civil 3D software, and GPS - Knowledge of local subdivision and zoning requirements - Ability to direct and monitor construction layout services - Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills - Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills - Motivated to lead and mentor others  Qualifications - 10+ years of professional land surveying/geomatics experience, including managing land surveying projects - High school diploma or GED - Degree in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred - PLS license preferred - Experience with solar, transmission, and distribution energy projects is desired. ABOUT THE POSITION VHB’s is looking to add a Civil Engineer with solar, substation, and transmission line access experience to join our growing Energy engineering practice. The position would be part of an integrated team supporting solar, substation, and transmission project design, permitting, and delivery.  The position can be based anywhere in VHB’s footprint but must be within a reasonable driving distance to one of our offices to engage in our hybrid work environment.  Significant work is expected to support ground mounted solar and battery storage projects in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast.   Responsibilities - Oversee the development of civil design permitting plans, construction documents, and specifications for commercial and utility scale solar PV and battery storage systems. - Oversee the develop of civil design permitting plans, construction documents, and specifications for Substation projects, including rebuilds, new, and expansions. - Oversee the development of civil design permitting plans, construction documents, specifications, and quantity estimates for electrical transmission line access road projects, including pull pads and work pads. - Coordinate activities between clients, utilities, permit agencies, contractors, and other engineering disciplines as needed. - Lead site assessments and analysis via on-site data collection and network tools. - Oversee site specific production analysis of PV arrays using models such as PVsyst and evaluate tree shading impacts on output. - Provide mentorship and training to entry level and junior engineering personnel relative to grading, drainage, and the utilization of AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and model-based design. - Assist in build-out of design team to support the design and delivery of a multitude of projects in the renewable and investor-owned utility markets. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience. ABOUT THE POSITION VHB has an immediate opening for an Intelligent Transportation Systems/ITS Project Engineer to join our Transportation Systems Group. Project work will focus on the planning, systems engineering documentation, design and construction support of ITS infrastructure including power and communications systems.   We are open to applicants that can work hybrid out of one of our VHB offices or we will consider fully remote for candidates within the U.S., ideally Eastern time zone, that have all preferred qualifications.    Responsibilities - Work within a team of professionals to develop design plans and specifications for a variety of ITS, communications, and low voltage electrical equipment & infrastructure - Develop permanent and work zone transportation systems management solutions to highways and arterials - Design of ITS equipment and communications infrastructure including fiber optic and wireless technologies, CCTV, Dynamic Message Signs, and sensor technologies - Electrical power design for small AC and DC systems, including street/highway lighting and solar power systems - Perform other engineering field work (field equipment testing, utility and infrastructure verification, i.e., taking measurements and pictures at field sites) - Writing technical reports and memoranda - Writing and updating specifications for ITS hardware to keep current with trends in transportation technology Skills and Attributes - Self-motivated - Attention to detail - Ability to think critically, applying standards and guidelines to project-specific challenges - Strong civil/transportation engineering background - MicroStation and/or AutoCAD knowledge beneficial - Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills - Excel in working in a team environment with remote team members - Ability to read and comprehend highway plans, electrical diagrams, and construction specifications - Experience with ITS equipment and/or communications systems (cellular, fiber, wireless) - Interest in working across multiple disciplines concurrently with a diversity of assignments - Willingness to learn continually, keeping current with advances in transportation technology Qualifications - B.S. in Civil Engineering required, with focus on Transportation preferred (a master’s may be substituted for 1-2 years of experience) - 5-8 years of professional intelligent transportation systems/ITS engineering experience required - Prior experience working with DOT is beneficial - Experience in preparing systems engineering documentation in accordance with 23 U.S.C.
