ABOUT THE POSITION VHB’s growing Atlanta Archaeology Group is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians to support our team for Phase I archaeological field survey work for projects throughout Georgia and the Southeast. Projects are expected to begin in May and last for up to 12 weeks or more. For projects located outside of the greater Atlanta area, hotel room accommodations and meals will be reimbursed. Field vehicles and transportation to survey areas will also be provided. Preference will be given to those candidates who currently reside in the Southeast.   Pay Range - $20/hr - $23/hr. However, the final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, and experience.   Responsibilities - Conduct Phase I archaeological fieldwork, including pedestrian survey, shovel testing, and field data recording of soils, artifact finds, and site resources. - Assist with mapping responsibilities in the field, including collection of data using handheld GPS units; Survey123 and Field Maps App. - Work closely with project team under the supervision of VHB archaeologists. Must be able to carry field equipment weighing up to 40 pounds for extended periods. Qualifications - BS in Civil Engineering or related field - Minimum of 3-5 years of professional site/civil engineering experience, including consulting/private sector experience - 5-8 years of professional site/civil engineering experience, including consulting/private sector experience preferred - EIT or PE highly preferred - AutoCAD Civil 3D experience required - GIS, HydroCAD, and StormCAD experience a plus - Experience preparing graphics and maps - Experience using energy-specific siting/performance tools, such as PVSyst/PVCase/HelioScope, etc. is also a plus Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York is $80,000-90,000.
