ABOUT THE POSITION Mobility Project Manager – Transportation Engineering Hybrid | New York, NY | Newark, NJ   VHB is looking a Mobility Project Manager with approximately 8 to 11 years of transportation engineering experience to join our vibrant and growing transportation consulting practice in our New York City office. We are looking for someone with a blend of technical expertise, managerial skills, and innovative thinking, who would play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.   Successful candidates will work with our Transportation, State/Local Government, Real Estate, and Institutional Market Sectors to win and execute projects in both the public and private sectors within the five boroughs of New York City. ABOUT THE POSITION Role/Responsibilities – Collaborate and partner with New England Market Leaders, Managing Directors, and the New England structures teams to increase our client base and grow coastal engineering services in New England.   - Developing and maintaining strong relationships and trust with coastal engineering and resiliency focused staff in New England and throughout VHB. - Developing and maintaining in-depth coastal market knowledge with a starting focus on client base within Massachusetts and expanding throughout the rest of VHB’s footprint. It is expected that the Director will bring significant client relationships and VHB’s leaders will work with the director to identify significant cross-selling opportunities. - Help drive the Strategic Initiative associated with building a coastal engineering and resiliency practice which will be a significant focus of VHB as part of the 2028 strategic plan. - Continue to develop VHB’s expertise in coastal engineering with the goal of creating a coastal engineering practice to deliver on that service. It is assumed that the Director will be responsible for identifying, pursuing and delivering coastal engineering work.  The Director will also play a significant role in identifying and recruiting candidates to build the practice. - Manage project teams responsible for delivering coastal engineering projects. - Perform project management responsibilities, including project scope development, client management, cost estimation, staff resource identification, implementation oversight, budget tracking, quality control and completion of administrative requirements. ABOUT THE POSITION VHB’s growing New England Transportation group is seeking a Project Manager of Highway/Roadway Design    In this position, you would be responsible for the management of transportation engineering projects covering roadways, bikeways, and utility design.  Duties include overseeing traffic engineering, stormwater management, drainage, temporary traffic control, traffic signals, construction observation, cost estimating and construction administration. Our team uses its skills and experience to improve our communities with a sustainable, context-driven and integrated project delivery mindset. Our clients include local municipalities, MassDOT, DCR and other state public transportation agencies, and private partners who support the development of the places we live, work, recreate and learn.   Responsibilities: - Managing large multi-disciplinary highway reconstruction projects, both traditional bid-build and alternate delivery (Design-Build, PPP, etc.) - Working with Contractors for the delivery of Design-Build projects. - Training / mentoring junior staff in various aspects of highway design. - Assisting with the production and delivering transportation projects through the construction administration phase - Pre-design project planning and financial management - Design of highways and roads including the development of geometric layout, grading, and drainage, working with utilities, and environmental permitting - Development of technical design and specification documents Qualifications: - BS in Engineering required - 11+ years required, 15+ years preferred of roadway experience, with at least 5+ years of experience managing highway design projects - Current PE in Massachusetts or licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Massachusetts PE license within six months - Our team works a flexible hybrid schedule, with the option to work from any of our MA office locations. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required - Professional Licensure or on track to obtain (PG, PE, CHMM) Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $117,000-170,000.
