ABOUT THE POSITION VHB’s growing Watertown, MA office is looking for a Transportation Engineer/ Planner to join our Transportation Planning & Operations group. ABOUT THE POSITION VHB has an immediate need for an experienced Environmental Engineer to join our growing Site Investigation & Remediation practice in our Watertown, Massachusetts or Providence, Rhode Island office.   Responsibilities - Prepare and review technical documents and reports with a high level of proficiency. - Work in a fast-paced team environment where there are several projects proceeding at any given time. - Mentor junior staff regarding engineering designs, soil/groundwater/soil vapor remedial designs, field procedures related to soil and groundwater sampling collection, monitoring well installation, construction oversight, etc. - Drafts proposals, prepares budgets, reviews invoices, and communicates with clients. - Develops remedial plans, specifications, drawings, instructions, and remedial cost opinions; designs remedial systems for groundwater treatment, vapor intrusion, etc. - Manage time appropriately to produce high-quality products for VHB’s clients. Skills & Abilities - Strong understanding of the MassDEP and RIDEM environmental regulations and related guidance documents pertaining to spill assessment and cleanup, underground storage tanks, hazardous waste, etc. Experience working in other New England states is a plus. - Interest or experience in Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plan inspections and reporting, sub-slab depressurization system (SSDS) design, and aboveground and underground storage tank inspections, design, and regulations is a plus. - The candidate must have experience working on land development/construction-related projects and preparing the associated regulatory submittals. - Ability to work in field and office settings - Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate exemplary writing skills and the ability to perform detailed reviews of documents prepared by others. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that high-quality reports are provided to senior staff for review. - Motivated and ability to problem solve, be adaptable, and work in a team environment. - The individual should be involved with professional organizations and be interested in continuing professional education to remain up-to-date on current regulations.
