ABOUT THE POSITION VHB’s growing Manasquan, NJ office is seeking a Geomatics/Survey Project Manager to join our East Coast Geomatics team. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable in Land Surveying for a variety of applications, including boundary determinations, topographic surveys, utility surveys, highway surveys and subdivisions. The position requires up-to-date knowledge of current technologies, and a proven ability to manage land surveying projects. Must be familiar with New England, Northeast, and colonial land surveying.   Responsibilities - Manages projects, project staff, and clients - Project management, including management of budget, scope, and schedule for small, moderate, and large land survey projects - Management of project staff and clients throughout the Northeast region. - Performance and/or oversight of surveying calculations - Analysis and interpretation of public records research, including deeds, plans and other pertinent documents for the project - Reviews and certifies work that staff has completed with a high-level of precision and accuracy - Keeps accurate notes, records, and sketches to describe and certify work performed - Coordination of field crews and Survey/CAD Technicians - Perform field checks, manage quality control of all products - Coordinate survey efforts with other groups in an integrated services environment - Ability to perform “field to finish” land surveying Skills and Attributes - Must be knowledgeable in all aspects of Land Surveying, including legal requirements, boundary determinations and ALTA requirements - Proficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural, and structural drawings - Knowledge of local subdivision and zoning requirements - Thorough understanding of the use of up-to-date survey technologies and interface with AutoCAD Civil 3D - Ability to direct and monitor construction layout services - Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills - Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills - Motivated to lead and mentor others  Qualifications - 10+ years of professional land surveying/geomatics experience, including managing land surveying projects - High school diploma or GED - Degree in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred - NY PLS license preferred - Must be familiar with New Jersey and New York land surveying - Proficient in all aspects of land surveying including boundary line and topographic survey as well as construction stakeout - Experience with electronic instruments, field data collectors, AutoCAD and Civil 3D software, GPS, and robotic instruments - Experience with remote sensing technologies such as UAV’s and terrestrial scanning is desirable - Experience with remote sensing software such as Leica Cyclone and global mapper is desirable - Experience with ESRI software is desirable We are VHB! We’re an inspired and innovative team of engineers, scientists, planners, and designers who partner with clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments. These projects will be moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.   Responsibilities - Completes field data review and post-processing activities - Implement 3D workflows and solutions - QA/QC and processes information received from field and outside sources - Land surveying including boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic survey, route survey, construction stakeout and utility surveys - Documenting all phases of survey work through clear field notes and data collection - Perform survey office calculations to process field data - Perform CAD 3D functions relating to the production and development of survey plans - May perform field crew coordination and set up for all types of field surveys - Direct the activities of a survey crew when needed - Assists with process of training geomatics professionals in calculations, data collection, upload processes, and ESRI software platforms - Ensures that project tasks have been completed, processed, reviewed, and delivered per project requirements and parameters - Assists project managers with planning field tasks, maintaining schedule, and reporting project progress Skills and Attributes - Solid knowledge of geomatics mathematics, field procedure, and data collection principles, practices, methods, and procedures - Knowledge and experience to understand technical, reality capture, and mapping calculations - Thorough working knowledge of industry standard geomatics equipment (eq. survey equipment, GPS equipment, reality capture equipment) with ability to adapt to new equipment and emerging technologies - Proficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural and structural drawings - Understanding of boundary, topographic, construction, and utility surveys - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with survey staff and clients - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry - Detail and task oriented, team oriented with ability to work independently Qualifications - 1-3 years of geomatics/survey experience, whether through coursework or professional experience - High school diploma or GED required - Familiarity with AutoCAD, ESRI, ArcGIS, and ArcPro software preferred - Experience in coordinating geomatics projects, including setting up crews and equipment - Experience in collecting, post-processing and resolving data discrepancies as it relates to conventional GPS planning We are VHB! We’re an inspired and innovative team of engineers, scientists, planners, and designers who partner with clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments. ABOUT THE POSITION VHB’s growing Manasquan, NJ office has an immediate need for a Survey Crew Chief - Geomatics Reality Capture to join our team.   Responsibilities - Supervises members of the geomatics/survey crew - Guides and redirects geomatics staff to stay on course with budget and schedule - Formulates workflow plans to complete various types of geomatics projects based on instructions provided - Oversees field operations surveys (e.g., boundary, topographic, control, construction, ALTA/NSPS, engineering, As-Built/post construction, reality capture) - Analyzes and interprets public records research (e.g., deeds, plans, other pertinent documents for the project) - Supervises operation of data collection systems (e.g., manual and robotic total station, digital and auto levels, GPS instruments, reality capture equipment) - Ensures accurate layout and measurement of land surfaces - Ensures proper maintenance of equipment and vehicles - Communicates with the public as needed - Documents all phases of work through field notes, daily reports, and other project documentation Skills and Attributes - Thorough knowledge and extensive experience in the field using surveying equipment (e.g., GPS instruments, manual and robotic total station, reality capture equipment) - Experience using various survey and/or reality capture software - Solid knowledge of geomatics mathematics (e.g., fundamental geometry and trigonometry) and geomatics data collection principles, practices, methods, and procedures - Proficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural and structural drawings - Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Qualifications - 5+ years of geomatics/professional land surveying experience - 3 years of progressive geomatics/survey crew chief experience in leading and supervising field crews - High school diploma or GED - Degree in Geomatics, Survey Engineering, or Engineering preferred (college degree can substitute for experience) - Experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D desirable, but not required - Experience with Microstation, Inroads and OpenRoads desirable, but not required - Experience with Leica survey equipment desirable, but not required - Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) desirable, but not required - Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record - Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs - Willingness to travel to various sites, including some overnight stays, as needed   WE ARE VHB!
